2013-2015 Board Members
Uyen Kim Huynh. Uyen Kim Huynh is a Senior Research Scientist with expertise in Monitoring and Evaluation. She has extensive experience in evaluating the progress and impact of humanitarian projects in low-income countries. Uyen served as the Assistant Director of Policy at the Center for Globalization and Sustainable Development at Columbia University, focusing on sub-Saharan Africa and the UN Millennium Development Goals. Her academic background and research centered on refugee health, stemming from her Ph.D. work at the Harvard Program of Refugee Studies. She also holds a Masters Degree of Public and Economic Policy from Cornell University. Dr. Huynh has previously served as a founding VietHope Board Member and is currently working in the field of Maternal and Child Health at the United Nations.
Tien-Anh Nguyen. Tien-Anh has volunteered with VietHope since 2008, and recently joined VietHope in 2014. Tien Anh leads the venture capital firm OpenView Venture Partner’s Research and Analytics team and has been focused on building an innovative market research function at the firm since 2007. He graduated from Harvard University with a bachelor’s degree in mathematics and from the Kellogg School of Management with an MBA in finance and strategy.
Uyen-Khanh Quang-Dang. Uyen-Khanh was one of the founding members of VietHope while an undergraduate student studying History and Science at Harvard College in 2001. Uyen-Khanh was VietHope’s Public Relations Director from 2001-2005. She completed her M.S. in Public Health in the Department of Population and International Health at the Harvard School of Public Health, her M.D. at New York Medical College, and is in her final year of adult psychiatry training at the University of California, San Francisco. Her career interests include working with older adult populations, cultural psychiatry, and advocacy.
Eoin Matthews. Hailing from Ireland originally, Eoin was first introduced to VietHope in 2005 in Boston by his then girlfriend (now wife). Inspired by VietHope’s achievements and the team’s ability to affect change, he has been involved in fundraising and project management activities over the years. Eoin holds a B.Eng in Mechanical Engineering from NUI, Galway in Ireland but has spent most of his professional career working in the US e-commerce and internet technology industry. He currently resides in San Francisco and leads business development for VigLink.
Quang Tran. Quang Tran is based in Los Angeles and works in education technology. Quang has volunteered with VietHope since 2007. Her experiences include developing new programs for VietHope, and she now coordinates the team across multiple areas. Quang last visited Vietnam in summer 2012, where she had a great time participating in the YDP Summit in Saigon with 30 Vietnamese college students. Quang holds a B.A. from Harvard and an MBA/MA in Education from Stanford.
Vi Nguyen. Vi Nguyen began volunteering for VietHope in 2008. She has led efforts in fundraising, having directed national grassroots campaign to raise over $50,000 to build VietHope’s Youth Development Program in collaboration with the Union of North American Vietnamese Students Association (uNAVSA). She currently spearheads the management of staff volunteers, donor relations, and program evaluation. Vi received her BA from Yale University and is currently working as a Data Strategist at City Colleges of Chicago.
Past Board Members
Lynn Huynh. Lynn currently works as a consultant at The Analysis Group in Boston. Lynn migrated to the United States in 1983 from My Tho, Vietnam. After graduating from Boston Latin School in 1999, she attended Harvard College. At Harvard, Lynn majored in chemistry, directed the Hepatitis B Boston Initiative and served as Co-President of the Harvard Vietnamese Association. She spent 2004 in Vietnam on a Fulbright fellowship, doing research on Hepatitis B and working to develop new projects for VietHope. Lynn received her MBA, MPH and PhD in epidemiology at Johns Hopkins University.
Hung Le. Hung is currently an Internal Strategy Consultant for a $4 billion division of Northrop Grumman Information Systems in the Washington DC metro area. In this role, he helps guide the integration and deployment of Lean Six Sigma and other quality initiatives. Prior to joining Northrop Grumman, Hung held leadership positions with Deloitte Consulting, GE, KPMG Consulting, and IBM. He has provided consulting services in a diverse range of industries, including high-tech, banking, and healthcare. Hung received his B.S. in electrical engineering from University of Virginia, his Masters from University of Maryland, and his Ph.D. in mathematics from George Mason University. Hung also holds an MBA from the University of Pennsylvania Wharton School of Business.
Nam Tran Nguyen. Nam Tran received her BA from Columbia University and spent a year at the London School of Economics. In 2001, she was in Vietnam as a Fulbright Fellow, conducting research on the financial systems of Vietnam. While in Vietnam, she was associated with the Hanoi School of Business and taught a class on economics to talented high school students. Following her year as a Fulbright Fellow, Nam Tran enrolled at the Harvard School of Business, where she served as the Co-Chair to the Harvard International Development Conference. Nam Tran is currently working in the renewable energy field in San Francisco, California.
Hanh Michelle Le. Hanh Michelle Le is currently the Regional Director of Pharmacy at Inova Health System in Fairfax, Virginia. Hanh has been known to be very active in many non-profit organizations, including Viet Hope, in the past many years to promote the well-being of the underserved children in Vietnam. Hanh received her B.S. from Northeast Louisiana University, her Pharm.D. from Xavier University, and completed a residency at The Johns Hopkins Hospital.
